Pottery at the Stampede?!

When I heard that the Calgary Stampede Arts and Crafts Committee reached out to my pottery guild to find out if we were interested in being one of the guilds featured during the Stampede, I lassoed the idea! What if we took a wheel to the Stampede, I asked? Well, I’m about to find out!

Hold on to your Cowboy Hats and Western Cliches, because tomorrow, July 11, I’ll be at the Calgary Stampede, “the greatest outdoor show on earth,” with Wheelie Nelson, my beloved Shimpo VL Lite, along with a passionate group of potters from the Mount Pleasant Potters’ Guild, spinning clay, talking pottery, showing our work off, and rolling our eyes at the “Ghost” jokes.

We’re honoured to be one of the daily featured guilds at the Western Oasis, home of the Stampede’s arts and crafts exhibition.

I’m excited to be there – I’ve volunteered on the grounds a couple of times in the past and had a ball! – but I’m also having a little stage fright! Not something I thought I’d ever be saying about making some pottery.

See you at the Stampede, pardner!
